Telemedicine

Telemedicine is the remote delivery of healthcare services, such as health assessments or consultations, over the telecommunications infrastructure. It has been used to overcome distance barriers and to improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. In India, rural areas people mostly depends on rural health care provider for their health-care due to the inaccessibility of health care infrastructure for round the clock and unavailability of formal health care providers. They rarely get chance to consult with formal doctors or specialist doctors during their need. So, Liver Foundation, West Bengal has undertaken Telemedicine program (with the financial support of Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation) to cater the facilities of consultation by formal doctors as well as specialist doctors to the rural people. We are conducting this program at our different peripheral centers in Purulia, Murshidabad, Nadia and Birbhum district.
