A seminar on 'Organ donation' "Freedom after death" was held at Iran Society House at our central office in Kyd Street on 15th August, 2012 from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Hepatitis C awareness and advocacy programme was held at Purulia on 10.08.2012 in M.M High School and Nazrul Balika Vidyalaya respectively.

'World Hepatitis Day' was observed. Exhibition on Hepatitis by Hepatitis patients was held at Calcutta YMCA. Greetings cards and handicrafts prepared by patients were displayed and offered for sale in the exhibition. This exhibition was inaugurated by Sri Shantiram Mahato, Hon?ble Minister Incharge, Self Help Group & Self Employment, Govt. of West Bengal from 28th to 29th July, 2012.

The 'Molecular Virology Laboratory' was inaugurated at the central office of Liver Foundation, West Bengal. Dr. Sushanto Bandopadhyay, Director of Medical Education & Ex-Officio Secretary, Dept. of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal, inaugurated the laboratory. Also present at the inauguration were President of Liver foundation-Dr. Ashokananda Konar, Secretary-Dr. Abhijit Chowdhury, Treasurer-Dr. Amal Santra, Project Director-Dr. Partha Sarathi Mukherjee and other eminent doctors on 28th July, 2012.

A 'Student Health Summit' (training on public health campaign and Hepatitis prevention) was held at the central office of Liver Foundation, West Bengal. 20 students from 4 schools of Kolkata participated in this summit from 14th to 15th July, 2012.

Foundation stone laying Ceremony - Foundation stone laying ceremony of Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (IILDS) was held at Sonarpur, Kolkata on 30th June, 2012.

Ambulance Donation Ceremony - Mahindra Finance donated another Ambulance for the Purulia Peripherial Centre of Liver Foundation. Donation Programme was held at Rotary Sadan, Kolkata on 11th May, 2012.

Awareness Programme in schools of Kolkata - Hepatitis and Liver Heath Awareness and Advocacy Programmes were held in different schools of Kolkata and healthy food habits were encouraged. We received great response from Binodini Girls? High School (13th April, 2012), Chetla Boys? High School (21st April, 2012), Chowringhee High School (24th April, 2012) and Chetla Girls? High School (28th April, 2012).

Awareness Programme in Konnagar - An awareness programme on Hepatitis B and C was held in "Eker Palli Club" in Konnagar on 15th of April, 2012 from 6:30 pm onwards. Dr Mahiuddin Ahmed was the guest of honour at our programme.

Visit by BMSF Director - Phangicelli Mtshali, one of the directors of Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, visited the central office of Liver Foundation at Kolkata on 4th of April, 2012 and discussed about the status and progress of the project on "Development of a Hepatitis patient advocacy platform and empowering patients for comprehensive social security - from clinic to the doorstep"

Inaugural Program for "Grassroot Advocates" in Purulia and Birbhum - 10 school students each were selected from 2 districts of Bengal and they are entitled to a scholarship of Rs 500 per month for 3 years for being a "Grassroot Advocate" to the community in spreading health awareness and supporting patients. 10 students each from Purulia and Birbhum were presented with the scholarship in an inaugural program on 25th March and 31st March, 2012 respectively.
